We all have songs that remind us of specific periods and events in our lives. Twenty years from now, which song will remind you of the summer of 2014?

The song that will remind me of this summer is Turn Down for What by DJ Snake & Lil Jon because it will mark the first time in my life that I took a hip-hop dance class. And I’m not a spring chicken to put it sweetly.

I started taking ballet at 5 years old and have dabbled in different types of dance ever since. Lately I’ve been doing modern dance. I definitely liked to dance at the club in my late teens and 20s and was usually pretty good at learning the hottest dances, free-styling. But I’ve never taken an organized hip-hop class.

That song will be my reminder that you’re never too old to try something new. I just hope nobody Vines this. It’s definitely a Vine just waiting to happen. Or an animated gif.

All I just need now is more attitude.
