Doing the big chop was the best thing to start my natural hair journey. Finding a hair salon that focused solely on natural haircare was even better.

After nine months of trying to style my new growth, I knew I had to do something different. I was tired of seeing straggly, chemically-straightened ends. Continuing to make the newly growing kinky hair match the straight pieces risked heat damage.

Instead, I decided to cut my hair short. I hadn’t had short hair since the 90s while trying to be Halle Berry but coming out like Anita Baker.

Let the adventure begin

Now, a little over year later, my hair has grown faster and thicker than I expected. My stylist posted the progress on My Honey Child’s Instagram

The chemical-free texture is amazing and I love it. Every natural hair influencer on YouTube says, “Stop touching your hair!” But seriously, once you fall in love with it, that’s just impossible.

I can’t wait to see where this journey leads. I hope you’ll follow along!
