Despite the busy month I still wanted to join my sisters in harnessing our collective buying power to build economic wealth for our community. So I had to get a little creative during our inaugural June Black Dollar Days.
Nothing was going to stop me from wearing pink💗, spending green 💚 and buying Black 🖤 for this Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. initiative. It’s my norm anyway.
For our restaurant Fridays I ordered lunch and dinner from Hadys International Restaurant and from the Jamaican Grille. Can you tell I like FLAVORFUL? 😋 Also stopped by Busboys and Poets for the vibe and high quality, healthily-prepared food.
Browndages and Harlem Candle Company met my self-care needs for the next Friday.
By now y’all know I love to travel and Travel Divas is great for doing that solo (but with a group). Had to pay a little toward that next year’s trip! The location is a secret for now. 🤐
While riding Amtrak, I ordered several Black-owned brands for personal care from Target. They made a nice welcome home treat. Watch the video for a quick recap.

For retail and boutiques Friday, I bought T-shirts for our mini family reunion from D’iyanu. I became an ambassador for the brand just last year; You can enjoy a discount with my code lit15 when you shop online.
June is done, but my support of Black and minority-owned businesses keeps going on forever. Join me and commit to at least once a month shopping, supporting or volunteering at one.
Follow me on social to see more of my favorite Black-owned businesses, charities and brands.
