The smell of curry chicken cooking envelopes my home with a feeling of warmth. The kind of warmth you feel when you anticipate good home cooking from your mama, or grandma or aunties. The warmth of a mashup of spices simmering on a stovetop and filling the air. It envelopes me with faint memories of my Bajan roots, and vivid memories of getting together for impromptu dinners with my crew of friends for Jamaican style curry chicken. It makes me think of New York, once the only place I could get Caribbean and West Indian food.

My stomach is talking in anticipation about the curry and rice I’m about to eat. And after the warmth and flavor envelope first my senses and then my tastebuds — I’ll be satisfied.

  3. Love curry dishes but that smell envelops the kitchen for way too long! I tend to eat mine out in a good restaurant 😀

    1. It certainly lasts just a tad too long!
